2/27/13  We will serve vegetable soup and pizza bread.
Today we served Baked potatoes. Lots of options today. Plain or sweet potato?  Other options were broccoli, mushrooms, carmelized onions,  green onions, salsa, sour cream and cheese.
This is a favorite for most people and its surprising how many students will eat the veggies on a potato.

chicken tenders and lemony smashed potatoes

2/22/13 Chicken tenders and lemony smashed potatoes are on the menu today. Today we made Hamantaschen cookies for Purim. The salad bar has been very healthy this week. We have lots of fresh veggies to choose from.  Clemintine oranges continue to be popular on the fruit bar.

2/21/13  Cheese Lasagna will be served with garlic bread and steamed broccoli.

2/20/13 Today we served a new pasta recipe with garlic, scallions, basil, parsley, tomato and balsamic vinegar, and finally parmesan cheese. It was yummy and lots of students were brave enough to try it. Green beans were steamed and offered to all.

               The vegetable offered will be  a medley of zucchini and onion and roasted corn.

chicken teriyaki

This is what chicken teriyaki looks like.   Basmati rice, edamame, pineapple,  and of course teriyaki chicken.      
 The students prefer everything separate  when we serve  chicken teriyaki.   We are happy to oblige if it helps them eat.

Pasta with alfredo sauce

Tuesday 2/12/13  we will serve pasta with alfredo sauce. Lots of veggies in the sauce. YUM!

Tomato soup and grilled cheese

Monday we will serve tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich.   This soup is delicious, and the students really enjoy dipping the sandwich into the soup. Strawberries were offered at the fruit bar and were really yummy.

tortellini with sauce

Tortellini was served today,  tomato sauce was offered.   Isn't this cauliflower lovely?  So many students asked us how it turned these colors, the answer of course is that its natural just fancy.

2/6/13  We served pasta with brie and tomato today. This dish  is decadent. Plain pasta is always offered as an option.  Clemintine oranges are amazing right now and the students really like them.
Fun foods on the salad bar lately are soy beans and craisins.  I had a parent ask about protein being available to the students at lunch, so I want to remind parents that there are eggs, cottage cheese, shredded cheese available daily at the salad bar.

Chicken burritos

Today  for lunch we are serving chicken burritos, previously these have only been served on family group Mondays.  These contain marinated chicken in a sweet chipotle and adobo sauce, pinto beans and a bit of rice. They are more work but worth it.
